Control your camera with your voice
On your iPhone, you can set up Voice Control to instantly take a picture without touching the screen. So, get ready for another good one.
Go to Settings, select Accessibility then activate Voice Control. Now open up your Camera app and simply say, “Turn up the volume” or “Turn down the volume.” You just took a picture!
AirDrop is Apple’s file-sharing feature that allows you to easily transfer files among Apple devices. That means you can select a photo on your iPhone and paste it onto your MacBook Pro’s Pages app or e-mail.
First you need to have a few things set-up. Both the iPhone and MacBook Pro need to have Bluetooth turned on and on the same Wi-Fi network. On the iPhone, open up photos and click on a photo. On the bottom is the Share button that looks like a box with an up arrow in it. Click on it and choose AirDrop. All of a sudden, a white page shows up on the iPhone with a mini picture of the MacBook Pro. Just click Done — the photo is copied to the MacBook Pro’s Download Folder.
If you click on the Finder, Downloads, the file is listed as a JPG file. There you can copy and paste the photo to your e-mail or Pages document. With both e-mail and the Download Folder opened on your desktop, just drag the JPG file from the Download Folder over to the e-mail page and release your mouse.
The new iPhone app coming out soon on iOS15 is called “Focus.” This lets you block all notifications except from certain people or apps. It’s almost like the old “Do Not Disturb” app that mutes all incoming notifications. Focus is the upgrade of it that gives you more flexibility in choosing which apps and contacts get muted and which ones can still send notifications. To set this up, go to Settings on your iPhone, then tap on Focus and the plus sign on the top right corner. There you can pick one of the pre-set options or select Custom. You also can click on “Share Across Devices” that activates Focus to work on all your Apple devices.
But the best thing Apple just came out with is called “Find MY.” This app is invaluable because it can track an iPhone even after it’s been erased or powered off. You can also track a friend or family member, and it is constantly updating instead of every few minutes.
How this all works is pretty ingenious. You don’t have to be on Wi-Fi or cellular. It uses nearby iPhones, iPads and Macs to send you message locations. So, if someone steals your iPhone and then erases it, in iOS 15, it’s still going to show up in the Find My app, and it will be trackable even after it’s been wiped.
Better yet, with Separation Alerts, the Find My app can let you know if an iPhoneor iPad is left behind by alerting you on one of the other devices with you. It works with AirTags and AirPods Max and AirPods Pro.
The “Find My Network” is able to deliver an approximate location if these items become lost. So, on your iPhone, you can place a Widget for “Find Me” instead of searching throughout your iPhone apps.
