Paradise Lahaina to give back to the community through food box distribution
LAHAINA — Paradise Lahaina, in conjunction with LahainaTown Action Committee, is sponsoring a Community Giveback on Monday, Oct. 5, starting at 8 a.m. The food box distribution will take place in the parking lot located at 713 Luakini St. in Lahaina.
“Every week I have seen the need grow greater in our community during this pandemic,” said Mousa Hassan, co-owner of Paradise Lahaina. “I am inspired by the work other organizations and churches continue to do, and I wanted to contribute as well. This (Oct. 5) is the first day of fall break, and I wanted to create food boxes with keiki in mind to help get Lahaina families through the week.”
Hassan is a board member for LahainaTown Action Committee and has volunteered at numerous community events, both financially and with his time, through the years, but seeing the need in his community for basic necessities during the pandemic really moved him to organize this food box distribution.
“Even though our businesses are currently closed, my partner and I knew we had to do something to assist,” said Hassan. “I hope this helps some families have a better week, and I am happy to be able to do this for my community.”
Paradise Lahaina is co-owned by business partners Mousa Hassan and Jubran Jobran.
Paradise Lahaina and volunteers from LahainaTown Action Committee will be distributing food boxes, including pasta and spaghetti sauce, cereal, canned goods and fresh local produce. Two-hundred boxes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to those in need.
