Kimo’s awards staff at Lahainaluna High School

LAHAINA — Kimo’s recently recognized BJ Alvarez, Jeri Dean, Jackie Ellis and Cassie Jacinto of Lahainaluna High School as Educators of the Month for July/August, September/October, November/December and January/February, respectively.

Alvarez, was awarded for his outstanding work managing the cleaning and sanitation of the campus during this unprecedented time. Alvarez was acknowledged for his positive attitude, hard work and for caring for the community.

Dean, Lahainaluna High School’s principal, was recognized for continually going above and beyond the call of duty. Dean met the ever-changing demands of COVID-19 with a positive spirit, keeping the team moving forward and feeling empowered.

Ellis was awarded for her dedication to the students, the staff and the school. Ellis continually goes beyond the call of duty, including arranging for a vaccine webinar for the staff.

Jacinto, freshman math teacher, was awarded for her ability to make great connections with students and her amazing school spirit. Celebrated for her work in transitioning to virtual learning, Jacinto was instrumental in implementing Google Classroom.

“We are thrilled to be able to recognize the dedicated staff at Lahainaluna High School,” said Chris Almeroth, Kimo’s general manager. “We want to thank our educators for their incredible work as they adapted to meet the challenges of the past year.”

The four honorees were presented with an engraved award and a $150 gift certificate to Kimo’s.
