Ryan Luckey joins Hula Grill as executive sous chef

KAANAPALI – Ryan Luckey has joined Hula Grill Kaanapali as the restaurant’s new executive sous chef, working under the culinary direction of Chef-Owner Peter Merriman and Chefs Bobby Master and Chris Schobel.

Luckey began his career in the culinary industry as a line cook 18 years ago at the Red Lobster in Lahaina.

He further refined his skill, creativity and personal style within some of Maui’s finest hotels and restaurants, including the Plantation House at Kapalua, Kapalua Bay Hotel, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and The Westin Maui.

Luckey most recently served as executive chef at Pineapple Grill in Kapalua.

Over the years, Chef Luckey has earned numerous industry awards and accolades, including Hawaii Hospitality Magazine’s Top Young Chefs to Watch as well as a number of Honolulu Magazine Hale ‘Aina and Maui No Ka ‘Oi ‘Aipono Awards.

Luckey’s commitment to using sustainable local agriculture and Hawaii-raised and produced livestock has placed him among the leaders of the local farm-to-table movement, Maui Nui.
