Middles Evans, Igiede lead UH to sweep of CSUN
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.– Middle blockers Kennedi Evans and Amber Igiede combined for 20 kills to lead the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-12 victory over Cal State Northridge on Friday.
Evans and Igiede each had 10 kills and had just one error on 28 swings combined for a .679 hitting percentage as UH improved to 16-6 overall, 9-2 in Big West play. The Rainbow Wahine out-hit their opponent for the eighth-straight match, .367-to-.111.
Senior outside hitter Riley Wagoner added nine kills and eight digs with an ace, while junior outside Paula Guersching finished with eight kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Kate Lang had the offense clicking with 37 assists as UH hit over .300 with 12 or less errors for the third straight match.
The Matadors (5-18, 3-9) were led by Carisa Barron and Perry Starkey, who each had seven kills apiece.
UH next plays Cal State Bakersfield today.
