First responders invited to paddle with Maui Canoe Club
KIHEI — As a small way to thank first responders who have been helping out the citizens of Maui in this very difficult time, Maui Canoe Club is offering all first responders the opportunity to paddle at no charge in MCC’s outrigger canoes with club members.
MCC’s normal paddling times are Monday through Friday at 7 a.m., and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.
If you are interested, e-mail bfondiller@gmail.com. Please come to Sugar Beach on North Kihei Road a half hour before starting times so that you can sign a waiver, be fitted for a paddle and be given some instruction. If these times do not work out for you or your group, please let MCC know, and they will do their best to schedule a suitable time.
Maui Canoe Club is the most northern outrigger canoe club on North Kihei Road near Kealia Wildlife Sanctuary. There are two large signs in front of the club; one says “Maui Canoe Club,” and the other pink sign says “Mana’olana.”
Maui Canoe Club looks forward to welcoming and thanking as many first responders as possible in the next few months. The ocean is a beautiful and restorative place. Please join club members for fun, ocean exercise and adventure.
