KAANAPALI — Once again, the Maui community has pulled together to support the next wave of Lahainaluna High School graduates. The 15th annual Legacy Cup Golf Tournament was held April 1 on Kaanapali’s Royal Course.

Serving as the tournament chairperson for the 15th year, Joel Navarro, Ho’okele Title & Escrow executive vice president, along with the Lahainaluna PTSA, teamed up again this year to keep graduation night safe for Lahainaluna students. With a full field of 144 players, the event was a huge success, and funds raised will ensure that the cost per student is affordable for every graduating senior.

Joel shared, “I continue to be blown away by the tremendous support of the Maui community. Everyone has been so generous and committed to the success of the Legacy Cup. This year is especially significant, since my eldest son, Joa, is graduating.”

The Lahainaluna PTSA is thankful for the ongoing support surrounding this project. PTSA Board Member Liz Sager noted, “We offer a big mahalo to everyone who made this event possible, including the many organizations that donated prizes, corporate and hole sponsors, golfers and our dedicated volunteers. We offer a special thanks to Kaanapali Golf Courses for hosting our event, Roy’s Kaanapali and Cool Cat Cafe for the amazing food, and, of course, Ho’okele Title & Escrow as our tournament title sponsor.”

The Legacy Cup Golf Tournament is the primary fundraiser for Lahainaluna’s Project Graduation. Each year, the Lahainaluna PTSA and Project Graduation Committee put together a fun- filled event to honor the graduating seniors, while providing them a safe, drug-free, alcohol-free experience to remember. Nationally, graduation night has been linked to higher rates of underage drinking and driving. The primary goal of Project Graduation is to keep our youth safe and celebrate their accomplishments.
