MAALAEA — Join the hundreds of participants already registered for the 12th annual Maui 5K Run and Walk.

Choose from running a timed 5K course through Maalaea or an untimed one-mile run/walk. The event will be held, rain or shine, from 7 to 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 5.

Participants will receive both a medal and T-shirt — each made with recyclable materials. Awards will be presented to top finishers, and giveaways, including round-trip flights on Alaska Airlines, will be handed out to randomly selected participants. Proceeds from the 5K will go directly to the community, providing schools with funding to expand physical education and athletic programs county-wide.

Event registration is $45 for the 5K run and $40 for the one-mile run/walk (plus a minimal sign-up fee).

Each participant can indicate which school they’d like to support on their registration form. All Maui Nui schools — public and private — are welcome to register.

The top five individuals who raise the most money for their school will receive an annual family membership to Maui Ocean Center.
