Maui Prep to host Gold Medal Squared Volleyball Camp

By BY WALTER CHIHARA - | Apr 15, 2022

NAPILI — The second annual Gold Medal Squared Volleyball Camp will be held from May 30 to June 2, at Maui Preparatory Academy.

Na Pueo Principal and volleyball coach Ryan Kirkham made the announcement last week for the camp that will be held at the independent campus in the sparkling Bozich Center for Athletics and the Performing Arts.

The camp is focused on high school players ages 12-18 years old and will provide detailed coaching with a coach for every 12-18 athletes on each of the courts. The three daily sessions will be split into two courts based upon previous ability and experience. The cost of the camp is $299.

Programs running GMS systems have won at every level of the game, including the Olympics, NCAA Championships, European Professional League, and Junior College Championships. The program’s greatest successes have come at the junior high and high school levels. During the 20-plus years of the GMS camps, over 500 schools have won state high school championships. Hundreds more have won regional/sectional titles, and virtually every school that holds a camp improves over the previous season.

The GMS teaching method represents over 100 years of coaching experience and the scientific study of teaching volleyball at all levels.

The system has been refined and consistently applied to the camp curriculum for 20-plus years, bringing an unmatched level of experience and success.

The GMS camp staff is provided with rigorous training and the best teaching tools available. Most of the lead instructors are current college coaches who run the GMS system in their gyms, who love to coach, and have been with the program for 15 years.
