MAALAEA — The 11th annual Maui 5K Run and Walk is just around the corner — mark your calendars for Sunday, March 6 — and Maui Ocean Center is thrilled to present this fundraising event that provides funds for Maui Nui schools to purchase physical fitness equipment, expand athletic programs and more.

Sponsoring the race is one of the best ways to ensure our keiki have access to athletic programs and opportunities for active play in school.

Race organizers have created affordable sponsorship options to open the door for more participants.

Grab a group of friends or walk solo — everyone is welcome to join in on the fun and support this worthy cause! Another option is to register to run or walk and get creative! Show your silly side with a marine-themed costume or sport your school, corporate or organization’s colors when you participate in the 5K or one-mile walk. Submit your registration form and payment by Feb. 25 and receive a T-shirt.

What’s a race without some fantastic prizes to get everyone motivated? Race organizers are looking for generous donors to provide prizes valued anywhere from $5 to $500 for the Maui 5K participants.

Many of the participants are teachers or students, so items that can be used in and out of the classroom are welcome.
