LAHAINA — The Maui Community Sailing Foundation, in partnership with Lahaina Yacht Club, has been working for years building youth sailing programs for kids 8-15.
These are the only youth sailing programs available on Maui. These programs are staffed by volunteers who are overseen by the sailing director at LYC.
Besides learning to sail, the kids gain self-confidence, self-reliance, problem solving skills and sportsmanship, all while having fun. For many, this is their first opportunity to be in a boat by themselves and develop the skills to navigate the waters of Maui.
This year, the MCSF offers six weeks of sailing programs that are sold out. The one-week programs are $425 for the public and $375 for LYC members.
The MCSF offers scholarships to Maui youth so that all can participate. To learn more, go to www.mauicommunitysailingfoundation.com.
Sign-ups for the 2022 Summer Program will open in April 22.
