Lahaina Canoe Club to open paddling season
LAHAINA – Lahaina Canoe Club opens the 2020 Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Association’s paddling season with club registration on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m to noon at Hanakao’o Beach Park (Canoe Beach). Registration assistance will be offered at the LCC hale.
Lahaina Canoe Club welcomes all paddlers. The Hawaiian outrigger paddling season offers events for all paddlers from eight years on.
For returning members, this is a great time to get information on the season, practice schedules and key dates. For novices or the curious, this is the perfect time to get involved with a canoe club.
Lahaina Canoe Club’s mission is based in education, perpetuation and practice of Hawaiian culture through canoe paddling. This is an opportunity to learn about the many aspects of the canoe (wa’a), its cultural background and its relationship to the canoe club and community.
Canoe paddling is a healthy, adventurous activity, where one can meet new people and see and do exciting things. The sprint/regatta season runs from April to early August and offers post-season events.
An intimate regatta in Hana to state-wide regatta championships to inter-island channel crossings – outrigger canoe paddling offers something for almost everyone.
