LAHAINA – West Maui Little League Baseball Commissioner Amy Sharp announced that inaugural Friday Night Lights events will feature games between Lahaina teams and rosters from Central Maui.
The games will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the first contest scheduled for Feb. 7 at the Lahaina Recreation Center baseball diamond.
The league will sponsor four Friday Night Lights events in the upcoming weeks. All five WMLLB teams will participate in the games. The first contest will match up the Royals and Pirates.
Commissioner Sharp is joined on the WMLLB Board of Directors by Marc Fair, Lori Roberts, Cheryl Sinogo, Don Thomson, Anastasia Colt, Jason Gilbert, Justin Jamison, Dylan Stelly, Emmett Marculis, John Sharp, Mike Iwankiw and Ashley Deleonibus.
“We really have an active and big board of directors this year doing some great things,” said Amy.
She expressed her gratitude to the league sponsors, which include the Grand Wailea, Maui Resort Rentals, Makena Golf and Beach Resort, King Screen Printing, UFO Parasail & Adventures, Cool Cat Cafe, 5A Rent-a-Space, Hula Grill, Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club, Westin Nanea, Round Table Pizza, Leilani’s on the Beach, Merriman’s, Kane’s Legacy Tree Services, and Big Wave Shave Ice.
“Ohana Day will be held on Saturday, March 28, with games and Opening Day ceremonies. We’ll have concessions at all of the games, and the Grand Wailea will offer barbecue plates. Player Agent Justin Jamison was drafted by the Texas Rangers a while back and now will offer his professional expertise at pitching and catching clinics, and Umpire-in-Chief Jason Gilbert will offer officiating clinics as well. We hope to see the Lahaina community come out to support youth baseball,” concluded Commissioner Sharp.
