Community is the focus at 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions
KAPALUA – January of 2020 is just around the corner, and with it, the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Our staff and volunteers are hard at work preparing for the winners on the PGA Tour to be back on Maui to compete at the newly refined Plantation Course in Kapalua. Putting on a tournament with the prestige of the Sentry Tournament of Champions is no small task, and we couldn’t do it without our nearly 500 volunteers, led by a dedicated group of volunteer chair people.
We like to think of this event as a way for the Maui ‘Ohana to show off what makes it so special to the best golfers in the world, in front of the best golf fans in the world. The way this community rallies around the event to help contribute to the more than $6.6 million it has given to local charities since 1999 is truly special, and that support makes us even more energized to make the 2020 tournament the best version of the event yet.
With that in mind, the 2020 is a celebration of everything Maui, from local restaurants like Joey’s Kitchen, Sansei and Cool Cat Cafe being featured onsite to moving parking right next to the golf course, our goal this year is to make this an event the island is proud of. Along with our title sponsor, Sentry Insurance, we are working harder to grow that charitable number than ever before, and through some programs like ‘Ohana Day on Wednesday and Aloha Friday at the tournament, growing that number will be a lot of fun.
Tickets, Pro-Am spots and Honorary Observer positions are still available, and we would be happy to help give you more information on all of it here at the tournament office if you e-mail me at alexurban@pgatourhq.com or visit www.sentrytournamentofchampions.com for more information.
Mahalo as always for the support of this incredible community and see you in January!
