Kapalua Golf’s Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Invitational announces charity donation
KAPALUA – Kapalua Golf Courses are proud to announce a donation of $9,164 to Maui charities from the Kapalua Clambake event that was held over the weekend of June 21-23, 2019.
The 33rd annual event was a great success! Professionals and amateurs from around the country converged on the Kapalua Bay Course and King Kamehameha Golf Club for three days of festivities and competition.
Highlights included a horse race shootout for all the teams and an awards ceremony at Taverna Restaurant’s event lawn.
The event raised $7,539 for Maui Special Olympics and $1,625 for Lahainaluna High School golf programs.
Team Thad Henry Design Group won the event for the second time in three years. Mahalo to all the players, staff and sponsors for an epic event!
Next year will bring back The Plantation Course for an even bigger celebration of golf and camaraderie.
Since its inception in 1982, Kapalua Golf has a long tradition of excellence. This year, the perennially top-rated Plantation Course is undergoing a refinement project aimed at revitalizing the 28-year-old golf course.
The work includes resurfacing all greens with Tif Eagle Bermuda, renovating every bunker on the golf course, and re-grassing tees, fairways and roughs with state-of-the-art Celebration Bermuda turf.
The Kapalua Golf team is planning on a soft opening in November with the intention of the course being in pristine condition by Jan. 1, 2020 for The Sentry Tournament of Champions.
The project is being led by the course’s original designers, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw; Troon’s Design, Development and Agronomy team; as well as longtime Kapalua resident and Golf Channel personality Mark Rolfing.
