HMSA Sun, Surf and Hoops 5K set for Nov. 18

The 5K race has some hills and is run on grass and the golf cart path.

KAANAPALI – November is here, which means it’s time for the annual Maui Invitational College Basketball Tournament. Some of the best college teams from around the country will be here to complete, including Arizona, Auburn, Duke, Xavier, Illinois, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Iowa State.

Before the tournament starts on Nov. 19-21, tournament organizers, along with Runners Paradise, will hold the third annual HMSA Sun, Surf and Hoops 5K on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Kaanapali Golf Course at 7 a.m., with a keiki mile after.

The 5K will be held on the golf course and starts at the clubhouse.

Each race will start and finish at the Royal Course. The top overall male and female winners, along with age division winners, will receive prize packs. All participants will receive an event T-shirt and medal. All children participating in the mile race will also receive a medal.

Packet pick-up, along with late registration, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, outside Roy’s Restaurant (at Kaanapali Golf Course) from 1 to 5 p.m. Fees will be higher on that day and the day of the race, so sign up today at www.mauiinvitational.com.
