Cynthia O’Neal Monteleone recently competed at the U.S. Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships in Maryland.

LAHAINA – Lahainaluna High School track coach Cynthia O’Neal Monteleone won four gold medals in the age 40-44 bracket at the U.S. Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 16-18 at Landover, Maryland.

O’Neal Monteleone, the wife and co-owner/operator of the Sugar Shack Bakery in Kapalua with Luna wrestling coach Zane Monteleone, took first place in her specialty, the 400-meter race, with a time of one minute, 0.31 seconds, and then beat the field in the 200-meter dash with a 27.07 clocking.

On the second day of the competition, O’Neal Monteleone joined the Southwest Sprinters team that captured the gold medal in both the 800 relay and the 1,600-meter relay, with the team’s 1:53.00 time in the 800 setting a U.S. record for the age division.

She will now turn her attention to the Lahainaluna sprinters, middle runners and relay teams for the stretch run of the 2018 Maui Interscholastic League track and field season.

Cynthia and Zane also invite all of their loyal customers of the Sugar Shack Bakery in Lahaina to come and visit them at their new location at 700 Office Road, next to Sansei Restaurant, in Kapalua.
