Kapalua Tennis raises money for Maui District Tennis Association

By Staff | Nov 23, 2017

Jason Purcell, Kapalua director of tennis, presents the donation to Chris Scharein, president of the Maui District Tennis Association.

KAPALUA – Kapalua Tennis announced that it recently raised $1,500 through its silent auction during the Kapalua Open Tennis Championships, with proceeds benefitting The Maui District Tennis Association Scholarship Fund.

This fund supports deserving tennis teams and players from Maui to play at events across the region, Mainland and internationally. The funds provided by the event help to support travel scholarships and awards for deserving tennis players of all ages to travel to these events. In exchange, the teams and players selected provide supportive community service hours back to the MDTA.

“We are pleased to be able to support the Maui District Association Scholarship Fund through our efforts. Supporting this great game and growth of tennis on Maui is an important goal for Kapalua Tennis,” said Jason Purcell, director of tennis.

Kapalua Tennis thanked all volunteers, participants and sponsors of the 2017 Kapalua Open Tennis Championships. For more information on offerings at Kapalua Tennis, call 662-7730 or visit www.KapaluaTennis.com.
