Maui Preparatory Academy graduate begins play on college golf scholarship

By Staff | Oct 26, 2017

Adam Quandt participated in his first college tournament two weeks ago at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club and shot 75-76 for 36 holes for the Concordia University team.

WEST MAUI – Add the name of Adam Quandt to the list of young student athletes that have benefited from the influence of the Lahaina Junior Golf program as well as the foresight and generosity of West Maui’s premiere golf resorts at Kaanapali and Kapalua.

Following in the fairway of recent Lahainanluna High School graduates Malu Rosenthal and Michiko Smith, who both earned college scholarships after participating in the LJG program that is supported by Kaanapali and Kapalua, Quandt honed his golf skills within the same pathway and earned a scholarship to Concordia University in Oregon.

In doing so, 18-year-old Quandt became the first Maui Preparatory Academy graduate to earn a college golf scholarship.

The son of Wyndy and David Quandt was a first team Maui Interscholastic League selection in his senior year and then moved on to Concordia this fall.

He was coached by Todd O’Neil in the youth program and then by Andy Witusynski at Maui Prep.

Quandt earned a 3.0 grade point average at Maui Prep and will follow a course of study in business and hotel management at Concordia.
