Junior Lifeguard Program set
WAILUKU – The county Department of Fire & Public Safety’s Ocean Safety Bureau will present the 2017 Junior Lifeguard Program to boys and girls ages 12-17. Sessions will be held in the North, South and West districts. Session I will run from June 12-23, Session II from June 26 to July 7, and Session III from July 10-21. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Registration forms will be available at all county lifeguard beaches and pools, and at the Maui County website at www.mauicounty.gov (click on “Community,” then “Junior Lifeguard Program”).
The program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. There are 30 maximum participants, and the age requirement is June 2017 (bring your birth certificate).
Students enrolled must perform and pass a swim test on May 6 or 13, with sessions at Sakamoto Pool on May 6, Kokua Pool on May 13, or Kihei Aquatic Center or Lahaina Aquatic Center from 9 to 10 a.m. on both dates.
