Maui Style Wrestling to begin practices

LAHAINA – Maui Style Wrestling last week announced its training schedule for West Maui.

The Lahaina Roughnecks will practice Mondays through Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Lahainaluna High School Wrestling Room starting on March 14. For information, call Conrad Bolor at 281-0656.

The Napili Surfriders will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Napilihau Recreation Center starting on March 15. Call Kim Ball at 280-1320 for information.

And the Lahaina Red Raiders will practice Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the King Kamehameha III Elementary School Cafeteria starting on March 14. Call Terry Shibao at 385-3149 for information.

Maui Style Wrestling trains future Maui Interscholastic League and state champions on the West Side, including Justin Inovejas, state medalist and MIL champ at 138 pounds; Lalelei Mataafa, four-time state and MIL champ at 225 pounds; Iverly Navarro, state champion and two-time MIL champ at 107 pounds; Alexis Encinas, state champion and three-time MIL champ at 112 pounds; Ira Navarro, state runner-up and MIL champ at 97 pounds; and Kawehi Gillcoat, state medalist and MIL champ at 113 pounds.

Keiki in grades K-8 should come to a practice and wear a T-shirt, shorts and soft-sole shoes.
