Maui Cheer All-Stars win invitation to Tampa
LAHAINA – The Junior One Level (J1) “Lady Khaos” of the Maui Cheer All-Stars took first place and the grand championship title in their division at the recent Athletic Championships on Oahu.
This team is part of a West Maui-based nonprofit competitive cheerleading program now in its eighth season. The J1 “Lady Khaos” were also awarded an invite to the D-2 Summit in Tampa, Florida, on April 30 and May 1, 2016. The prestigious D-2 Summit is by invitation only.
Athletes from four to 16 years of age, representing the majority of West Maui schools, participate in Maui Cheer All-Stars. The J1 champions are between the ages of eight and 15.
The Maui Cheer All-Stars have competed in national and international competitions, bringing home titles and/or placing in all events. This is the first time that the group has been invited to the annual D-2 Summit, where they will represent Maui.
The travel team of 20 athletes, coaches, parents, guardians, chaperones and families is now fundraising to get the group to Florida. Sponsorship opportunities include business logos on team T-shirts and banners. Monetary donations are also welcome; contributions can be made through www.gofundme.com/MCAD2summit
