JV softball team finishes with 4-2 record
LAHAINA – The Lahainaluna High School junior varsity softball team completed its 2016 season two weeks ago with a 4-2 record in competition with Maui High and Baldwin.
The Lady Lunas, guided by head coach Joe Keanini and assisted by varsity head coach Lei Nakamura, played the Sabers and Bears each three times over the quick winter season as a prelude to the varsity schedule that begins next week.
The roster this season included sophomores Kayla Delos Santos, Mia Gerbig, Elikapeka Garcia, Kaitlin Hodgins and Chelsea Domingo; and first-year players Daisha Gerbig, Samantha Calma, Keani Pagan, Nohili Hong, Ka’aina Kalanikau, Tamia Dudalao Kahaialii, Talia Jenkins, Ocean Makekau and Seraya Casco.
The first pitch for the varsity season will be thrown next week, Feb. 26-28, with the Lahainaluna Invitational Tournament that will be played at the Lady Lunas’ field and at Patsy Mink Field in Kahului.
The MIL season will begin the following week, as Lahainaluna will take the field against King Kekaulike here at home on the campus field starting at 10 a.m.
