Starry Night Cinema to feature new ski and surf films

Starry Night Cinema on Saturday night will include screenings of Warren Miller’s “Chasing Shadows” and an encore showing of John Florence and Blake Vincent Kueny’s “View From a Blue Moon.”
KAHULUI – Starry Night Cinema at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Saturday, Jan. 16, will be a double film night under the stars showcasing amazing athletes from sea to mountaintop on the big screen in the A&B Amphitheater.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and the movies start at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

First up, Warren Miller Entertainment introduces its 66th snow-sports film, “Chasing Shadows.” Take a glimpse into the world of the U.S. freestyle team and the dynamics of snow sports that live on the fringe, like monoskiing, powsurfing and speed riding.
Explore what it means to be inspired, and what it is about exotic locations and snow-covered summits that keep snow sports enthusiasts searching for more, in this 90-minute film.
Next, see the sport of surfing as it’s never been captured before in John Florence and Blake Vincent Kueny’s second signature release, “View From a Blue Moon.”
The 60-minute film follows one of the world’s most dynamic surfers, John Florence, and his closest friends from his home on the North Shore of Oahu to his favorite surfing destinations around the globe.
