Walsh wins Spring Wahine Fishing Tournament

The Hinatea won Lahaina Yacht Club’s Spring Wahine Fishing Tournament with a 30.5-pound ono by Athena Walsh.
LAHAINA – Lahaina Yacht Club’s recent Spring Wahine Fishing Tournament had 14 teams, up from six last year.
Most boats caught fish, with a total of 25 being weighed in at Lahaina Harbor.
The winning fish was a 30.5-pound ono by Athena Walsh aboard Hinatea. Jennifer Jacobson aboard Reel Fast placed second with a 26.5-pound mahi mahi, followed by a 24.4-pound spearfish caught by Paris Lilly aboard JayHawk.
The next wahine tournament is planned on Friday, Oct. 30, the day before the Lahaina Jackpot Tournament. To enter a team, or for more information, e-mail Mike Byrnes at RCpower@lyc.us.
Lahaina Yacht Club thanked the many businesses that contributed to the Spring Wahine Fishing Tournament, including Napili Kai Seahouse, Duke’s Beach House, Maui Jim, Hula Grill, West Maui Fishing Supply, UFO Parasail, Kimo’s, Kaanapali Beach Hotel, and RKD (Rudi King Design) for creating the logo to print on the T-shirts.
