KAPALUA – Kapalua Golf was once again recognized by Golfweek magazine. The Coore/Crenshaw-designed Plantation Course – which plays host to the PGA Tour’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions – was honored as the “No. 1 Best Course You Can Play in Hawaii.”

This marks the ninth consecutive year that the Plantation Course maintained top billing in Golfweek’s prestigious list, confirming the property’s commitment to exceptional service, outstanding facilities and unparalleled playing conditions.

Additionally, the Arnold Palmer/ Francis Duane-designed Bay Course rose up to a prominent ranking of No. 11 in Hawaii. The Bay Course has hosted 20 major professional tournaments – the most of any Neighbor Island course in the State of Hawaii.

“Everyone within the Kapalua ‘ohana knows that Kapalua Golf boasts two truly special and iconic golf experiences in the Plantation and Bay courses,” stated Mike Jones, general manager and director of golf for Kapalua Golf.

“Therefore, it’s especially gratifying to see that both courses were honored by Golfweek. We are once again thrilled that the Planation Course continues to be honored as the best course in the state, and that the oceanfront Bay Course jumped into the top 12 you can play in the Aloha State.”

Kaanapali course honored in Golfweek’s ‘Best Courses You Can Play’ in Hawaii

KAANAPALI – The picturesque Royal Kaanapali Golf Course, managed by Billy Casper Golf, was named among Hawaii’s top layouts in Golfweek magazine’s recently released 2015 “Best Courses You Can Play” state-by-state list.

Preparing to host simultaneous men’s and women’s Regional and Sectional U.S. Open Qualifying Tournaments on May 9, the perennial Maui favorite was voted No. 15 in all of Hawaii.

The state-by-state rankings – tallied by hundreds of Golfweek raters nationwide – takes into account the overall strength of routing, feature shaping, natural settings, greens, the variety and remarkable nature of holes, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management and other criteria.

“We are honored to again be in the winner’s circle,” said Ed Kageyama, PGA general manager of the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course.

“Our team does an amazing job day in and day out conditioning our courses and creating memorable experiences for locals and visitors.”

Opened in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Kaanapali Course features wide fairways and undulating greens that make it distinctive and demanding. The tournament-tested layout hosted the Champions Tour Kaanapali Classic for 14 years, Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, Canada Cup and LPGA Kemper Open, welcoming Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Jan Stephenson, Betsy King and other legends.

Complementing the Royal Kaanapali Course is the modernized Kaanapali Kai Course, host of Golf Channel’s “Big Break Kaanapali.” Extensively renovated in 2005, the 6,400-yard, par-70 layout boasts an array of strategically placed bunkers, contoured fairways and resurfaced greens.
