Community meetings to highlight proposed skateparks
WAILUKU – The county Department of Parks and Recreation last week announced a series of four community meetings that will be held later this month to discuss plans for county skateparks in Upcountry Maui and on Molokai and Lanai.
Parks staff and skatepark design consultant California Skateparks will be on-hand at the meetings to receive community input on the conceptual designs for proposed skateparks at three sites.
Two meetings will be held in Pukalani regarding the Upcountry park; one meeting each on Molokai and Lanai will also be held.
The Upcountry meetings are slated at the Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center on Monday, April 20, from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m., and Thursday, April 23, from 6:45 to 8:30 p.m. The skatepark location will be determined at the community meetings.
The Molokai meeting will be held at Hale Mahaolu Home Pumehana on Tuesday, April 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The skatepark will be located at the Mitchell Pauole Center Complex in Kaunakakai.
The Lanai meeting will be held at Lanai Community Center on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The skatepark will be located at the Fifth Street Park in Lanai City.
