Water Safety Day slated at Canoe Beach
LAHAINA – The Will Smith Foundation is pleased to partner with the County of Maui Ocean Safety, Aquatics and Fire Departments to host a free Water Safety Day event on Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hanakao’o Beach Park in Lahaina.
Will’s Water Safety Day is a community, family fun event for all ages. The main event, staged on the beautiful Hanakao’o shoreline, is an Ohana Fun Paddle with Maui’s own Archie Kalepa, Buzzy Kerbox, Kody Kerbox, Dave Kalama, Dane Kealoha, Conner Baxter and Kai Lenny.
Meet some of the island’s most respected watermen and learn about the importance of staying safe while at the beach.
The day’s events will include simulated rescue techniques presented by the lifeguards, canoe rides with Napili Canoe Club and live music by Lily Meola, Ben De Leon and Damon Paddilla.
Lunch will be available, provided by Flatbread Pizza and Monkeypod Kitchen.
The first 150 kids to arrive will receive event T-shirts provided generously by Naish Hawaii. This event is open to the public; no registration is required.
