Color Run to support Maui United Way

By Staff | Mar 27, 2014

WAILUKU – Maui United Way was chosen as the primary beneficiary for The Color Run on Sunday, March 30. The run, called “the happiest 5K on the planet,” is expected to draw thousands of participants.

As part of the beneficiary responsibilities, Maui United Way will provide a minimum of 150 volunteers. As such, Maui United Way is reaching out to the community for volunteers to help with pre-registration on March 28 at Sports Authority and March 29 at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center with two shifts on each day: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Race day volunteers are needed to help from 6 a.m. to noon to do a variety of tasks, including handing out water, assisting with check-in, tossing color, revving up the crowd at the finish festival and more.

Volunteers helping with two or more shifts at pre-registration will be able to participate in the race at no cost.

The Color Run will donate $40 to Maui United Way for every volunteer that selects Maui United Way or any of its 40 nonprofit partner agencies during registration. By volunteering for The Color Run, you have the opportunity to support a large number of non-profits on Maui.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old, able to work an entire shift, and wear closed-toe shoes and clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.

Volunteer registration can be done online at www.mauiunitedway.org or by calling 244-8787. Any companies interested in registering a volunteer team may contact Maui United Way directly.
