Soccer club to hold tryouts
LAHAINA – Tryouts for Na Honu and Na Koa West Side Soccer Club for the Hawaii Soccer Federation spring season will be held on Wednesday, March 5, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Lahaina Recreation Park on the back fields.
Tryouts will be open to girls in the U8 age division and for boys in the U8, U10 and U12 age divisions.

Basketball clinics set
MAKAWAO – BasketballMaui will hold free basketball clinics with David Nurse on Saturday, March 1, at Montessori School of Maui, 2933 Baldwin Avenue.
A clinic for boys and girls ages 7-12 will be held from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m., followed by a session for boys ages 13-18 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Fishing vessel drill conductor training set
KIHEI – The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association will offer a two-day fishing vessel safety and drill conductor course on March 1-2 at the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary at 726 South Kihei Road.
Instructors Steven Campbell and Charlie Medlicott will cover cold-water survival skills; EPIRBs, flares and maydays; man overboard recovery; firefighting; immersion suits and PFDs; emergency drills, helicopter rescue, life rafts and abandon ship procedures.
This course meets the training requirements for commercial fishing vessels and has an in-the-water practice session.
It is available free of charge to commercial fishermen thanks to funding from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health; the cost is $175 for all others. All mariners are welcome. For information, or to register, call (907) 747-3287 or visit www.amsea.org.
