Royal Lahaina to host professional tennis tournament

KAANAPALI – The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Hawaii Pacific Section announced that the 2014 Royal Lahaina Challenger presented by American Savings Bank will be held at the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch and Royal Lahaina Resort on Jan. 19-26.

This USTA Pro Circuit event is the only professional tennis competition in Hawaii. Players are set to compete for $50,000 in total prize money.

“This year’s impressive entry list includes such players as Jack Sock, Ryan Harrison (2011 Honolulu Challenger winner), Donald Young and Mischa Zverev (2013 finalist of the Maui Challenger),” said Ron Romano, executive director of the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section.

The Royal Lahaina Challenger will host a 32 Qualifying Men’s Singles Draw, 32 Main Men’s Singles Draw and 16 Men’s Doubles Draw.
