About Boating Safely course set

KIHEI – A new About Boating Safely course, taught by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, will be held at the Whale Sanctuary Building at 726 S. Kihei Road on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $40 for both days – which includes course text – payable on Saturday via check or cash. Bring your whole family for a discount.

This class will satisfy the new Hawaii mandatory boat operator education that will be required as of Nov. 10, 2014, if both days are attended.

To register, go to www.MauiBoatClass.com.

Many boat insurance companies discount their rates for class completion; check with your carrier.

This class is also required if you are thinking of joining the Coast Guard Auxiliary for some great fun and volunteer service.

The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s About Boating Safely course covers general information about boats and maintenance, information on preparing for safe and enjoyable outings, navigation rules and aids to navigation, guidelines for operating your boat or PWC safely, what to do in case of boating emergencies and state-specific laws and regulations you must follow.

Call Phylecia Platte at (808) 214-2118 if you have questions about the class, or go to www.MauiBoatClass.com to register.
