Hyundai Tournament of Champions presents check to tutor program

By Staff | May 23, 2013

KAPALUA – Hyundai Tournament of Champions Executive Director Nancy Cross recently met with Pat and Richard Endsley, founders of the Lahaina Complex After School Tutor Project, to present them with a donation of nearly $5,000.

Started in 2002, the Endsleys have worked tirelessly to create a unique, free after school tutoring program that benefits students from grades 3-8 throughout the West Side.

“The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is thrilled to support such a great program, which now has 160 volunteer tutors helping 286 students achieve their potential,” said Cross.

“The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is committed to making a positive impact in the Maui community,” she added.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1999, the tournament and host organizations have donated more than $4.4 million to Hawaii community charities.

“These funds will be wisely used to help inspire and motivate students in our program, and we are so grateful to the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the PGA Tour and Hyundai Motor America for this contribution,” said Pat.

The 2014 Hyundai Tournament of Champions is scheduled for Jan. 2-6, with the Pro-Am taking place on Thursday (free admission), followed by the professional competition Friday through Monday. For tournament ticket and pro-am information, e-mail ncrossmaui@gmail.com or call 665-9160.
