Free golf clinic to feature LPGA players

By Staff | Oct 4, 2012

KAANAPALI – Beyond the Rainbow Foundation announced that the Aloha Team Classic Pro-Am Clinic will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Kaanapali Golf Courses.

The clinic featuring five LPGA Tour professionals – Lisa Ferrero, Anna Grzebien, Allison Hanna, Olivia Jordan and Stephanie Kono – will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Deborah Katz, president of the foundation, said, “This year we have enhanced the clinic, so some of Maui’s junior golfers will have the opportunity to play a few holes with these talented young professionals.”

The clinic will begin with introductions of the LPGA players and insights into life on the LPGA tour. This will be followed by putting tips and personal coaching for keiki ages 5-9 on the practice green.

The clinic will conclude with 30 junior golfers ages 10-18 joining the LPGA players on the course for three holes in a scramble format, with family and friends encouraged to walk along with the groups.

Registration for juniors (ages 10-18) to play with one of the LPGA professionals opened Oct. 1. Juniors need to bring their own clubs and must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration is available by e-mail (info@AlohaTeamClassic.org) or by phone at (808) 665-5815. Include the following information: name and age of junior golfer, name of parent or guardian, phone number and e-mail address.

Hanna, one of the LPGA players who participated in last year’s event, said, “The 2011 Aloha Team Classic was one of the best golf experiences I’ve had since turning pro. Interacting with the junior golfers after the clinic was a major highlight for me, and experiencing the friendly and tight-knit community on Maui was truly eye-opening.”

There are a limited number of “Play with the Pro” slots still available for the 18-hole Pro-Am being held on

Thursday, Oct. 18. Amateur golfers interested in playing alongside one of the LPGA professionals are encouraged to contact the foundation for pricing and registration. Special pricing is also available if juniors play with a parent in the Friday Pro-Am.
