SUP lessons offered at Napili Bay

By Staff | May 3, 2012

NAPILI – A new company, Da Kine Stand Up Paddle, offers stand up paddle boarding (SUP) lessons at Napili Bay.

The bay is the ideal site for SUP lessons, generally offering calm, safe waters for an introduction to the popular sport.

“One thing that has made SUP so popular – it’s easier to learn than surfing,” said Maui resident Tom Ockerman, owner of Da Kine Stand Up Paddle and a veteran of Hawaii’s health and fitness industry for over 20 years.

“It’s an awesome sport for all ages, for all fitness levels. My kids and I go out as much as we can. You only need one thing – need to know how to swim.”

Instructors are certified in CPR, First Aid and water safety in accordance with state and county standards. The two-hour classes are limited to a maximum of four students per instructor. For more information, visit www.DaKineSup.net.
