Maui to Molokai paddle race set

By Staff | Apr 26, 2012

KAPALUA – Maui to Molokai (M2M), the Maui Canoe and Kayak Club’s signature paddle race, will be held on Saturday, April 28.

Paddlers travel from near and far to compete in this 26-mile stretch of the Pailolo Channel.

Spectators may see a surge of OC-1s, OC-2s, surf skis, standup paddleboards and prone boards along with a fleet of escort boats on the West Side.

The race starts at D.T. Fleming Beach Park and finishes at Kaunakakai Harbor on Molokai. Paddlers can compete in the relay division or the iron course.

The festivities begin on Friday, April 27, at the Pre-Race Pizza Party at Hawaiian Canoe Club from 4 to 6:30 p.m., sponsored by Outrigger Pizza Co. Along with tasty pizza and beverages, pick up your race packet (and gift bags for the first 250 paddlers who register).

The award ceremony on Saturday will be held at Molokai Yacht Club. Visit www.mauicanoeandkayak.org.
