Boating safety course set
KAHULUI – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer an “About Boating Safely Course” at the Airport Fire Department training room in Kahului.
The class is set for Friday, Feb. 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This is an introductory course that includes general information about choosing and maintaining a boat, operating a boat or PWC safely, navigation rules and aids to navigation, state-specific boating laws and regulations, handling boating emergencies and much more.
The cost of the class is $35, payable the first night. Books are provided by the state Department of Land & Natural Resources.
Boat insurance may be discounted with completion of this course; check with your carrier.
The instructors are all trained by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and volunteer their time to promote safe boating.
