Save Makena Skim Board Contest set
MAKENA — Maui Tomorrow and Save Makena.org are partnering with the Hawaii Amateur Skim Board League and Maui Skimmers to repeat a popular summer event.
The fourth annual Save Makena Skim Board Competition will be held on Oneloa (Big Beach) at Makena State Park on Saturday, June 11, starting at 8 a.m. Participants are asked to park in the second (southern) state park parking lot and walk south.
Designed as a fun, family-friendly event, the skim board competition is open to competitors of all ages. Contestants all receive an event T-shirt custom-designed by Silver Moon Graphics, and prizes will be awarded in all categories.
The event will include light refreshments for contestants and spectators courtesy of local businesses such as Flatbread Pizza Company and Lulu’s. A Maui Tomorrow information tent with free stickers and updates on local issues will also be set up onsite.
“This is a chance to have fun and learn more about plans being discussed for the Makena lands we all love,” said Angie Hofmann of Maui Tomorrow.
