Roughwater Swim Race set for Sunday

SOUTH MAUI — The Valley Isle Masters Swimmers’ 24th annual Maui Roughwater Swim Race is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 a.m.

Open to all age groups, this year’s race is a benefit for the South Maui Sharks swim team. All profits will be donated to this organization.

The course is 1.7 miles, starting at Keawekapu Beach (located at the beach access on the corner of South Kihei Road and Kilohana Street) and finishes at Polo Beach in front of Kealani Hotel. It is a scenic and challenging swim. 

Entries are available at county pools, or download it from www.hawaiimastersswim.org/events.html.

Registration is $20, which includes awards and breakfast. Check-in will be held from 7 to 8 a.m.  Membership with United States Masters Swimming or USA Swimming is required. One-day membership is $12 for USMS. For more information, call Janet Renner at 280-2756 or e-mail janet@swimprojanet.com.
