Roy and Betty Sakamoto are the living example of what we should all strive to be.

I’m so lucky to live on Maui full-time, and use my editorial spot to reflect my opinions on some of the most fabulous properties on the planet.

Every so often, I slip out of my Realtor mode and move into my feelings regarding our family and activities throughout the year.

Not only am I married to the best husband, have the most wonderful kids, and grandkids, I get to work with the Super Stars in our field.

Roy and Betty Sakamoto are the living example of what we should all strive to be. They are well travelled, well educated, well connected, and don’t have an ounce of arrogance or snobbery between them.

They’re examples of success in life, and in turn, lend their efforts to various local events, as well as Hale Makua.

Most recently, they joined in the celebration of our beloved Sue Cooley’s life. It was dubbed a “Cooleybration” by our friend and adopted assistant, Maiki Viela.

Sue was a longtime client and friend of the Sakamoto Ohana. She was instrumental in contributing millions towards the construction of the world-class Lahainaluna Stadium, and loved the students as her own “Boys.”

The celebration was a lovely Hawaiiana tribute held at the field, which was named after Sue. There was beautiful music, nature’s best tropical flowers and heart-warming speeches given by wonderful members of our West Maui Ohana.

Roy and Betty, Janelle, our office manager, and Maiki spent the four previous months helping to coordinate everything, and working with volunteers and Sue’s family to get it just right.

Betty will stop and kiss every single dog at the coffee store before coming up to the office in the morning. If you happen to stop by our office with your friendly fluffy love, rest assured that Betty will gladly get covered with fur for those puppy kisses. Okay, Okay – I am a sucker for puppy love also. I’m covered in fur on most good days…

Surrounded by top-producing Brokers, a wonderful atmosphere of success, blended with a passion for Maui living, and giving back daily…

I stand on the shoulders of GIANTS, and I thank my lucky stars on a daily basis. How much sweeter can it get? I AM BLESSED, and so very grateful!!
