Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation celebrates its new home for the animals
WAIHEE – After six long years of hard work, dedication and planning, Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation (H.A.R.F.) announced that it finally has a place to call home. H.A.R.F. has been a foster-based organization since its origination in 2011, saving thousands of animals over the years; however, the lack of a facility has been a challenge.
It has always been their dream to build a state-of-the-art education and animal center for Maui’s animals in need.
H.A.R.F. will be blessing a ten-acre property in Waihee on Sunday, June 4, 2017, with many of their closest supporters in attendance.
Executive Director and Co-founder Dawn Hall said, “We are thrilled to finally have a place to call home. It’s not only a dream come true, but it’s the first step toward making our animal center a reality. We’ve saved many lives over the years, but now we will be able to do so much more.”
The future animal center, once complete, will consist of an adoption and education center, veterinary clinic for companion and barnyard animals, adoption center, dog park, walking trails, plus much more.
H.A.R.F. anticipates breaking ground on the first building, the multi-use barn, by the end of 2017. Hall explained, “We want our center to be a very special place. A lot of planning and consideration has gone into its use, functionality and design, and we want to do it right the first time around.”
During the planning, fundraising and building process, H.A.R.F. will continue to run its regular operations; saving lives one at a time. H.A.R.F. holds weekly adoption event at Maui Mall every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are always looking for volunteers and foster families to help out. The organization has been, and continues to be, 100 percent volunteer.
“It really takes a village to make a change in the way we look at animal welfare, and we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish so much without the support of the community,” said Hall.
