Oceanfront property on Front Street in Lahaina
LAHAINA – How would you like to live oceanfront in downtown Lahaina? I have very unique property in a fabulous location for you.
960 Front St. sits oceanfront on the famous Front Street right in historic Lahaina just north of the former Lahaina Center. It has a 13,029-square-foot lot with a 75-foot frontage overlooking a panoramic view of Lanai and Molokai across the Pacific Ocean and gorgeous West Maui Mountain views to the east. The three-bedroom, 1,676-square-foot cottage comes with an open great room and large covered lanai built in 1961.
Originally called Alanui Moi, the King’s Road, Front Street, Lahaina is a very special place. The American Planning Association recognized it as one of the “Great Streets in America” in 2011. It developed to receive this well-deserved accolade from very humble beginnings.
Originally a simple dirt road flanked by a few houses and a small strip of shops in 1900, it is now a fascinating street with varied architecture that reflects Lahaina’s rich history as a plantation town, the capital of old Hawaii, a major whaling port and a missionary center. Today it mixes retail shops, restaurants, art galleries and many daytime and evening attractions as a thriving tourist mecca. It is unlike any other oceanfront strand in the world.
Take a very short stroll along Front Street into Lahaina on a Friday evening, and you will be in the center of the art walk. With more art galleries per capita than any other town in America, and home to some of the world’s best-known artists, Lahaina’s merchants and craftspeople put on a show with wine, pupus and music. Every night, you can enjoy world-class cuisine at one of Lahaina’s numerous award-winning restaurants or take in the nightlife at Warren and Annabelle’s, ‘Ulalena, the Feast at Lele or the Old Lahaina Luau. You can always just pop next door for Pi Artisan Pizzeria or enjoy their daily happy hour.
Special events are hosted monthly on Front Street with a Hawaiian Music Series concert and Second Friday Town Party, as well as all the special annual events Lahaina is known for, from Lahaina Halloween and the holiday lighting of the largest Banyan tree in the U.S. to Na Kamehameha Pa’u Parade, Fourth of July Fireworks, Plantation Days and the Chinese Moon Festival.
Alternatively stay home, enjoy the famous lingering West Maui sunsets and our winter visitors, the humpback whales, in the calm waters framed by the islands of Molokai and Lanai. You will also have the beautiful, colorful rainbows and moonrises to watch over the West Maui Mountains right at the bottom of your yard. Some misty evening, you are sure to catch a special Maui moonbow.
This property is not within the Lahaina Historic District or restricted by its rules, but it is a gorgeous piece of land that allows you to develop it to fulfill your dreams of living island life on Maui.
It’s also just a short drive north to the golden sandy beaches of Kaanapali, four championship golf courses in Kaanapali and Kapalua, and more exciting dining and shopping experiences.
Please call for dates, times and locations of our open houses in Kaanapali and Lahaina. We have many listings available for immediate showings and some special opportunities in West Maui.
