KULA – Haleakala National Park is currently accepting applications for guided astronomy and hiking tour Commercial Use Authorizations, valid for up to two years. All applications must be received by the park by close of business on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016.

The numbers and types of commercial tour services appropriate for the front country areas of the park are identified in the park’s Commercial Services Plan (available online at www.nps.gov/hale/parkmgmt).

The plan also specifies how many permits will be issued – up to four astronomy tour permits and up to six guided hiking tour permits.

A multi-step process will be used to select the applicants to whom the Commercial Use Authorizations (CUAs) will be issued.

If there are more qualified applicants than available CUAs, a competitive process will be used to evaluate and award CUAs.

To obtain an application and additional information about this business opportunity, go online to www.nps.gov/hale/parkmgmt/businesswithpark.htm. Interested applicants can also contact Greg Page, Fee and Commercial Services Program specialist, at 572-4440.
