KAANAPALI – Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa recently received the Hotel of the Year Award for Luxury/Resort Hotels, the top honor at the annual Host Hotels & Resorts Best in Class Awards.

These awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the operators and managers of Host properties across the globe.

Located on Kaanapali Beach, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, which has been owned by Host Hotels & Resorts since 2003, is Hawaii’s first LEED-EBOM Silver resort. The resort recently installed one of the largest photovoltaic solar panel systems in Hawaii.

“We are overjoyed to be recognized as the Hotel of the Year,” said Allan Farwell, general manager at the Hyatt Regency Maui.

“This honor is a wonderful recognition of all of the hard work and dedication our associates put into providing fantastic guest service. As a premier destination on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, we look forward to welcoming more leisure and business travelers to the resort and sharing our aloha spirit, and to continue a great partnership with Host Hotels & Resorts.”

“We are pleased to award Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa the Hotel of the Year Award,” added W. Edward Walter, president and chief executive officer, Host Hotels & Resorts.

“This award honors hotels that generated top financial performance, exemplary leadership and entrepreneurship and superior guest and associate satisfaction. We’re proud of this team for achieving and continuing to strive for excellence.”

This is not the first time a Maui resort has been recognized as Hotel of the Year. In 2015, Fairmont Kea Lani, also a Host Hotels & Resorts property, received the Hotel of the Year Award for Luxury/Resort Hotels.

Honored as a leading travel destination, Maui was recently voted top island in the world by TripAdvisor’s 2016 Traveler’s Choice Awards. Maui has also been voted “Best Island in the World” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler.
