WEST MAUI – Maui Lodging has been a part of West Maui’s property management scene for over ten years. Boasting an inventory of high-end oceanfront vacation rentals, a variety of long-term rentals, rental board management, AOAO management and a fully operating real estate brokerage, Maui Lodging really is the one stop shop when it comes to real estate in West Maui.

Starting small, Maui Lodging began by establishing their roots within the basic principles of quality and consistency. Their vacation rentals adhere to a standard of quality that was set by the original owner, Ron Lando Brown, over ten years ago.

Maui Lodging proudly maintains that standard today, providing a sense of pride translated to the renters during their stay.

According to Maui Lodging, the renters’ experience is the most important aspect of the business. If a guest becomes a return guest or recommends the unit or Maui Lodging to friends, family or the Internet, then you have succeeded.

Maui Lodging’s current owners, Darlene Ford and Kevin Istok, are excited about the new era Maui Lodging is ushering into West Maui’s property management scene. Ford may be best known as the former president and founder of Nai’a Properties Inc. and has been active in the accounting field for over 45 years. Her areas of expertise are centered around budgeting and auditing, supplemented with 30 years of property management in Hawaii.

It is an exciting time in the property management sector, as both vacation and long-term rentals have been on the rise in the past year.

“Our primary goal is to provide excellent accommodations, at a reasonable rate, in order to help renters enjoy their vacation of a lifetime,” asserted Steve Nieglos, property manager of Maui Lodging.

Nieglos took over the reins of Maui Lodging’s Property Management as of July 2012, bringing with him both energy and experience. With a background in property management on New Jersey’s Hudson River waterfront, the transition to Maui’s oceanfront has been an interesting journey.

“Managing vacation rentals, long-term rentals, AOAOs and rental boards keeps you on your toes every day of the week. However, we have been working hard toward future proofing the company, over the past year, in order to help ease our workload,” he said.

The most recent upgrade for Maui Lodging has been its website, which was rebuilt from the ground up with the integral help of Randy Strong of Strong Development Inc., a local web designer based in Kihei. High-resolution photos of all of Maui Lodging’s units are available on the website. All pictures have been taken by local photographers, such as Jose Morales of Xinia Productions, an outstanding photography studio also based in Kihei.

“We appreciate and enjoy participating in the camaraderie of Maui’s local business community,” remarked Steve.

The primary goal of the website is to showcase Maui Lodging’s vacation rentals, as well as provide a resource for people looking to purchase or sell real estate on Maui. There is also information for AOAOs or rental board associations looking for new management.

Today’s marketing is primarily Internet-based, and Maui Lodging has embraced that fact. Targeting key websites such as VRBO, Trip Advisor, Flip Key and Home Away, Maui Lodging has been able to market their units to anyone and everyone interested in a vacation rental on Maui.

Occupancy rates have been climbing, ever since dipping with the economy in 2008.

“Owners are used to their units renting 75 percent of the year. However, we strive to exceed those expectations, and we plan to achieve that goal this year,” commented Steve.

Since July, Maui Lodging has undergone several changes and is forging ahead behind the efforts of a dedicated and wholesome, family-style staff. The office, which is located in Kahana, is located close to their rentals, making check-ins, maintenance and general operations easier to manage.

Being able to see the faces of those whom you have booked is the highlight of any day.
