The Whaler: A world-class resort in the best location

By Staff | Apr 19, 2012

Featuring incredible views, The Whaler overlooks Kaanapali Beach.

KAANAPALI – Location, Location, Location – the three things that matter in real estate.

The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach is located:

Right on the water’s edge of the world-famous Kaanapali Beach, voted America’s Best Beach for 2003 by Dr. Beach for swimming, surfing, snorkeling and sunbathing.

With spectacular ocean views of the islands of Molokai and Lanai, moonrises from behind the West Maui Mountains and rainbows after the brief tropical showers.

Just steps from more than 90 world-class shops and restaurants at Whalers Village, and a short stroll down the beach walk to six luxury hotel resorts. It is also just minutes from lively, historic Lahaina Town with its galleries, shops, five-star cuisine and nightlife.

Surrounded by the manicured greens of the 36 holes of the legendary Kaanapali Royal and Kaanapali Kai Golf Courses, which are celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year.

It truly is the best of the best tropical location in Paradise. The Whaler is a world-class resort with a premier location right in the middle of Hawaii’s first planned resort.

Personally, I lived at The Whaler for four unforgettable years. One of my favorite things was taking in the breathtaking view from the lanai, which never ceased to amaze day or night. At night, the waters reflect the stunning image of the moon and the silhouettes of the islands of Molokai and Lanai on the horizon. The lingering daily West Maui sunsets are truly magical.

The two 12-story white towers of The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach almost glow in the late afternoon sun with their freshly renovated exteriors. The $10 million renovation has just been completed, including 15,000 linear feet of new lanai railings, 100,000 square feet of new lanai tiles and 600 new lightweight planter boxes. Also, more than half of the owners elected to replace their glass lanai doors.

Enjoy front row seats during season to watch the islands’ winter visitors – the magnificent, 40-ton humpback whales – play in the water. If you are lucky, a mother will bring her calf in and teach it to breach, requiring hundreds of practice flips!

At the north end of Kaanapali Beach is the famous Black Rock, where you can witness the nightly torch lighting and cliff dive at sunset, too.

The Whaler’s onsite amenities include an oceanfront heated swimming pool, hot tub and sauna (also recently remodeled), an exercise room, beach side gas barbecue grills (a favorite gathering spot in the evenings), five tennis courts, an Aveda salon and spa. The Whaler is nestled on over six beach front acres of beautiful, tropical landscaped grounds around a newly redesigned courtyard with a large new koi pond and waterfall steps from the crashing surf. There is also covered parking, a business center, 24-hour security and a front desk concierge to help with booking activities.

The Whaler is now already back to over 90 percent occupancy. The Whaler is a perfect vacation spot where visitors return year after year. Blending the convenience of condominium living with hotel amenities at one of the best locations in Maui, it couldn’t be a better time to buy a Whaler unit as your home away from home and as a rental investment when you can’t get away.

The spacious units range from 532-square-foot studios, one- and two-bedroom units, to the three-bedroom, 1,896-square-foot penthouse commanding views of the ocean or the lush West Maui Mountains. Many are updated with top-of-the-line finishes, including travertine, marble, onyx and granite, and high-end SubZero and Wolf stainless steel appliances. There are still a few in which you can add your own personal touches, too, or completely redesign to your tastes.

I have units at The Whaler available for immediate viewing with some great opportunities.

Whaler 669 is one of the lowest-priced one-bedroom/two-bath, 905-square-foot, fee simple units on the famous Kaanapali Beach. This remodeled unit with all new furniture, carpet and drapery has nice ocean and mountain views, and also gets the winter sun. It’s listed at $599,000.

Whaler 624 is a one-bedroom/two-bath, 905-square-foot corner unit with a large wraparound lanai that catches the cool tropical breezes. It has a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms with granite, stone and designer sinks listed at $749,000.
