The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise recently voted to bestow honorary membership to Jesse Neizman (right), who received the award from President Charles Schneider. Honorary membership is awarded to persons who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in promoting Rotary ideals, as well as people considered friends of Rotary for their permanent support of the organization’s causes.

WAILUKU — The county last week announced a new service to the public, Planning Department News.

This new feature is available through the News Flash section of the E-mail Notifications option found on the County of Maui’s website homepage.

Planning Department News announces and provides background information on new and updated permit applications and other forms, administrative rules and long range plans.

It will also provide information on special community meetings, proposed legislation, time-sensitive application deadlines and other news.

The county expects the service to be especially valuable to planning consultants, property developers and owners, government agencies and community groups. All interested parties are encouraged to subscribe.

The department emphasized the value of using up-to-date forms and other documents in the development of plans and the processing of permit applications. Using up-to-date documents saves time and money for all parties involved.

This new feature is part of the continuing effort of the department and Arakawa administration to keep the public informed on county activities and procedures.

To sign up for the service, go to the Maui County Website homepage and click on “E-mail Notification” on the left of the page. Provide an e-mail address and/or phone number, scroll down to the News Flash section and select the Planning Department News delivery options of your choice.
