Real property assessment notices mailed to owners

By Staff | Mar 25, 2010

Last week Monday, Mayor Charmaine Tavares (right) presented her administration’s Fiscal Year 2011 budget proposal to members of the County Council. The $530 million spending plan may be reviewed online at www.mauicounty.gov/budget.

WAILUKU — The county Real Property Tax Division announced that 2010 County of Maui real property assessment notices were mailed to property owners on or before March 15.

The notice will show the taxable value of the land and improvements (if applicable), the amount of allowed exemptions, classification assigned to the property and the net taxable value of the property.

Property owners are encouraged to carefully review the document and contact the division at 270-7297 if they have any questions.

If a property owner disagrees with the assessment, general land class or exemption included in their real property assessment notice, they may file an appeal with the Board of Review or the Tax Appeal Court.

The deadline for filing an appeal is Friday, April 9.

The assessment notice is not a bill. The first-half installment for the 2010-11 fiscal year will be mailed on or before July 20, 2010.

If you did not receive your assessment notice, or have any questions, contact the Real Property Tax Division at (808) 270-7297.

Assessment information may be viewed online at www.mauipropertytax.com.
