Help Lahaina Rotarians fund student scholarships

Rotarians have awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships since 1988.

LAHAINA — The Rotary Club of Lahaina’s 19th annual Scholarship Fund-raiser, “A Sweetheart Affair,” will be held today, Thursday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lulu’s in Lahaina Cannery Mall.

The benefit will feature live and silent auctions, as well as music by four-time Grammy Award winner George Kahumoku Jr. of the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert Series. Kahumoku will be accompanied by his Lahainaluna High School musicians.

Funds raised will go to the Rotary Club of Lahaina and Lahaina Rotary Youth Foundation, which annually awards over $20,000 in college scholarships to deserving seniors from West Maui, Molokai and Lanai.

Thanks to strong community support, the Rotary Club of Lahaina has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships since 1988.

Support from local businesses and individuals includes the following donations for both the live and silent auctions: primo Beach Boys concert tickets; deluxe accommodations romance packages with couples massages; charter boat trip (full-day) for up to ten people; VIP Napa Valley, California, wine tour and accommodations; Viva Las Vegas Deluxe Package; Interactive Chef’s Table with wine for six; lunch with celebrity actor, comedian, movie/TV Star Tom Arnold; AND MANY MORE GENEROUS DONATIONS!!!

Mahalo for your continued support and donations. We hope to reach our goal of exceeding last year’s college scholarships of $20,000.

Tickets to attend this year are specially priced at $50 per person ($30 is tax-deductible). Please make your checks payable to Lahaina Rotary Youth Foundation.
