Education: A top priority at Whalers Realty
KAANAPALI — Whalers Realty’s owners, Robert J. “Bob” Cartwright and Teresa “Tess” Cartwright, attended this year’s Realtors Conference & Expo in San Diego from Nov. 13-16. Over the four-day seminar, over 20,000 realtors participated in a variety of workshops, panel discussions and educational courses.
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her perspectives on current world events at this year’s General Session. As America’s chief diplomat from 2005 to 2009, she championed “Transformational Diplomacy” supporting the expansion of democratic governments around the world. Dr. Rice is currently a senior fellow on public policy at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
The General Session also included an industry address by NAR’s 101st president, Charles McMillan (Dallas, Texas), and recognition of the Realtors of the Year and 2009 Good Neighbor Award Winners.
Sugar Ray Leonard used boxing references and metaphors to demonstrate how choosing the right corner, mental tunnel vision and perseverance led him to boxing championships — and can lead realtors to real estate championships. Attendees heard what he learned when he chose to ignore the odds in order to succeed, and learned to identify ways to effectively implement the mental aspects of the boxing arena into business decisions.
2009 has been another successful year for Whalers Realty with achieving the coveted Small Business Success Award from Hawaii Business Magazine and attaining the distinguished grade of an A-plus from the consumer-friendly organization, the Better Business Bureau.
